Data Center Engineer
for our financial partner located in San Antonio, Texas metro area. This is the ideal opportunity for an individual with a network engineering or information technology background ( with a networking interest ) who wants to join a fast-pace team driving innovation and progress. The day- to-day duties will include: 5 days/week on-site in San Antonio Participate in platform deployment discussions regarding standards, assist asset management with requests for information (i.e. serial numbers, asset tag numbers), manage racking supplies including cable, fiber, Velcro, labels, misc. hardware requests when supplies get low Rack and mount or decommission servers, maintain standard cable management procedures including labeling servers and cables, manage requests for port configurations on the network and SAN switches for server commissioning and decommissioning, perform shipping, and receiving activities, run ethernet and fiber cables, power cords for servers, determine appropriate location of new hardware to be in the Data Center Monitoring of facility management system (Site Scan), support of building security camera system, use of standard Microsoft Office suite, including Visio Install, support, and troubleshoot data cabling, to include Cat6 and Fiber, understanding of Data Center power design and limitations, understanding of Data Center Standards EIA/TIA-942, Understanding of network typologies, Server Smart Hands customer replaceable items, such as memory, hard drives, PCI cards Awareness of adherence to PCI and other regulatory compliance measures and policies, Data Destruction of retired systems. Such as wiping disks Escorting of vendors and visitors in Data Center Perform datacenter audits to ensure asset tracking databases are up to date and accurate Participate in on-call rotation to support datacenter after-hours as needed Required Qualifications: CCNA/CCNET certification or CCNA knowledge level Understanding of networking protocols, routing, switching, Ips Either a graduate from a college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Network Engineering or Information Technology with a concentration in networking,
OR
2-3 years of experience and Associate Degree in Networking (or equivalent)
OR
Military experience in networking/IT Support Strong written and oral communication skills. Desired Qualifications: Proficiency with ServiceNow and/or NetZoom is a strong desire Experience working in a data center with a raised floor configuration Seniority level
