Job Description Summary:
Lead the development, progression, and tracking of pre-construction and construction schedules, including self-perform work. Perform delay and productivity analyses, manage claims, and ensure timely and profitable project completion.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Perform all essential Assistant Project Controls responsibilities.
Understand our financial systems and manage project costs.
Monitor project expenditures, track against budgets, and identify overruns.
Train self-perform project teams in developing baseline manpower, labor productivity, and cost tracking.
Collaborate with project managers and accounting teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Prepare, present, and negotiate change orders and claims as needed.
Track contract project controls and scheduling requirements.
Communicate and track KPIs and dashboards with self-perform teams and operations.
Identify and assess project risks; propose mitigation strategies.
Support team efforts to improve dashboards, KPIs, and trends.
Develop contingency plans in collaboration with project managers.
Monitor project performance indicators, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
Support the development of delay and labor productivity claims.
Set up labor productivity tracking and communicate production goals.
Prepare and validate preconstruction and baseline schedules and narratives.
Review project schedules using industry-standard software, identify critical path activities, and maintain schedules.
Conduct regular schedule reviews for delays, conflicts, or scope changes; propose mitigation strategies.
Coordinate with finance and accounting to align project controls with financial reporting.
Ensure project schedules are complete and adhere to company standards.
Develop and implement project controls plans and procedures.
Audit project documentation for compliance with policies and standards.
Follow P6 database management best practices.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Skills and Experience:
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent.
At least 7 years of construction experience, including 5 years in Project Controls.
Experience with scheduling and productivity claims is a plus.
Knowledge of construction scheduling using Critical Path Method.
Understanding of construction methods and processes.
Familiarity with job cost information.
Proficiency with P6 Professional, Microsoft Suite, and Bluebeam.
Ability to read and understand contracts, plans, and specifications.
Knowledge of construction cost accounting.
Experience with scheduling and productivity claims is desirable.
Ability to interpret plans and specifications.
Familiarity with virtual construction technology systems.
