They are responsible for preparing tissue specimens for pathological examination; helping maintain laboratory equipment; training in the use of new laboratory equipment; performing routine histology procedures; preparing solutions required for any histological examination; plus, all related job duties as assigned. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. NYS pathology lab and Mohs clinic providers and staff positions are mandated W-2 employment status positions as required by applicable laws and regulations.Schedule: Per Diem. Monday through Thursday. Open Flexibility to help cover in a team environment is needed. Summary of Essential Histology/Dermatology Job Functions: Specimen handling, storage, preservation, and identificationFreezing tissue and cutting frozen sections with a microtomeStaining and placing tissue on slidesLabeling and storage of slidesPreparation and mixing solutions used in MOHS labUse and handling of all materials and reagentsDisposal of stains and cleaning of glass containers and Petri dishesMaintenance and review of all equipment and materials in the labMaintaining and updating OSHA and CLIA recordsRecording daily temperatures of cryostatParticipating in relative studies by maintaining proper recordsEnsuring a safe environment in the lab according to OSHA standards (i.e. changing fume hood filters, safety glasses, gloves, etc.)Maintaining quality control logs for slide reviewMaintaining log for patient identification systemPerforms related work as requiredEnsures service excellence by becoming thoroughly familiar with the Seven Principles of behavior and putting them into practice in carrying out job responsibilitiesConforms to all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance and safety guidelines.Qualifications:Active and valid Histotechnician License may be required based on state guidelines.Bachelor's DegreeApplicable State Department of Professions Registration CertificateInterpersonal/human relations skillsAbility to operate personal computerAbility to approach problems/decisions analyticallyAbility to maintain recordsAbility/willingness to adhere to the established departmental service standardsCompensation: $550 daily rateHourly Pay Range$1-$1 USDSchweiger Dermatology Group, is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in its hiring process with applicants, whether internal or external, because of race, creed, color, age, national origin, ancestry, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, genetic information, veteran status, military status, application for military service or any other class per local, state or federal law.
