VP of Engineering with emphasis on Electronic and Microelectronics
Job Purpose:
The VP of Engineering will manage the development teams.
Nature of Duties:
Ensuring that the products meet design requirements, and deliver a consistent experience for users.
Managing an entire team of engineers and developers, collaborating with product managers, guiding the company’s product vision, and maintaining compliance with quality standards.
Ensuring that design requirements are met, overseeing the consistency of user experiences, and managing a team of engineers and developers.
Technical Leadership
Responsible for co-developing the technical strategy with the division president and for developing and maintaining a technical roadmap that will continue to innovate from a technical standpoint.
The VP Engineering may personally serve as a systems architect or assign another engineer to assume that role.
Strategy Development
Serves as part of the senior staff, working with peers in other departments (e.g., Marketing, Business Development, VP Manufacturing and Ops) as well as the division president to develop company and product strategies.
Additional responsibilities include designing, implementing, and monitoring operations and performance metrics; recruiting and developing top engineering talent; establishing quality standards; maintaining budgets; understanding the product lifecycle; recommending new technologies; building and managing the engineering team; and ensuring effective resource utilization.
Education and Experience:
B.S.E.E. and an advanced degree (MS) in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
15+ years of engineering leadership experience, including 10+ years leading an engineering team.
Experience with both software development and hardware engineering.
Strong communication skills and strategic thinking abilities.
Proven success in working with Product Management to contribute to product strategy and delivery.
Additional strategic responsibilities include designing new products, improving market position, coordinating with R&D, and ensuring resource and process optimization. The role also involves recruitment, resource management, and ensuring compliance with customer and company standards.
