Duties And Responsibilities The Senior Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures, handle reconciliations and compliance (accounting and tax) to ensure accurate and timely financial statements, and adhere to accounting and tax regulations.
Will be responsible for ensuring the financial data integrity and executing all processes related to the monthly accounting close, including preparing account reconciliations and monthly close journal entries, to ensure transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger under accounting principles.
The Senior Accountant addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, and year-end audit preparation, while overseeing and supervising accounting staff and administrative operations. The incumbent will have contact with the company’s senior-level managers, requiring strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
Key Duties Include But Not Limited To
General accounting
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including preparation of all journal entries
Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
Review all balance sheet accounts and prepare monthly cash flow reporting
Prepare detailed account analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, sales, cost of goods, and inventory
Track capital spending and capitalize fixed assets when placed in service
Oversee internal department reporting requirements and coordinate all aspects of annual audit schedules, tax schedules, and others in collaboration with other functions and Corporate team
Ensure a clean and timely year-end audit (work with outside auditors and accounting staff)
Prepare individual state tax forms and ensure tax compliance (e.g. sales tax)
Oversee third-party bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payments by best practices, local laws, and regulations
Support and coordinate management of insurance policies and renewal processes in collaboration with other functions and Corporate staff
Identify areas for improvement in accounting processes and procedures
Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed
Basic Requirements
BA/BS in Business with a major in Accounting; CPA or CMA preferred
Five to seven years of prior experience in financial reporting/general ledger area; experience in manufacturing preferred
Proficient in PC and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting
Experience with ERP systems required; SAP experience a plus
Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
Ability to analyze and communicate financial data
Experience with systems automation and creating efficiencies preferred
Must pass background checks, physical, and drug screening
