Job Overview

The Tennessee Department of Treasury is seeking a Portfolio Manager to support the private equity investment program of the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS). This position is part of a team of professionals who collaborate to manage a portfolio of relatively high risk / return investments. The position is located in Nashville, TN. The private equity portfolio represents over $9 billion in net asset value as one of three alternatives portfolios within the TCRS, and has a target allocation of 10% in the plan. The private equity team invests with external investment managers that pursue strategies such as leveraged buyouts, growth equity, and venture capital. The successful candidate will join the team and be responsible for assisting the private equity portfolio managers with the management of the portfolio. This position offers substantial opportunities to grow in the investment profession.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with monitoring portfolio investments and maintaining relationships with current General Partners. Assist with sourcing, due diligence, selection and closing of new fund commitments Participate in frequent discussions with internal staff and external private equity consultant. Generate recurring and ad hoc reports on the private equity program. Conduct special projects as determined by the Director of Private Equity and/or Chief Investment Officer. Travel to annual meetings, conferences, and due diligence visits.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree Proven oral and written communication skills Either an MBA, the CFA designation, or the CAIA designation; and At least seven years of investment management experience, with private equity fund investment experience strongly preferred.
