Environmental Project Manager / Engineer

Req#: 10046 Gannett Flemings Environmental Compliance and Remediation Team is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Project Manager to provide technical expertise, with an emphasis on remediation and due diligence projects in the NYC Metropolitan Area. This position requires strong Project Management skills and requires a team-oriented professional capable of communicating effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and junior staff professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional to manage and contribute technically to environmental compliance, permitting, due diligence, environmental investigations, remedial design and implementation, and site closure. Flexible work schedule with ability to work remotely. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing business as well as the overall implementation of environmental projects in both the public and private sector. Specific project focus will include preparation, oversight and review of work products including performance of calculations, technical reports, construction plans and technical specifications, preparation of cost estimates and feasibility studies, permit applications, and interpretation of federal, state and local agency regulations; planning and implementation of investigations; and data analysis and abstraction. Duties and responsibilities will include: A strong understanding of NYDEC and NJDEP environmental rules and regulations. Leading business development and teaming efforts for both public and private clients. Managing a team of junior staff conducting field work and executing day to day activities of projects. Act as a subject matter expert of environmental remedial design and remedial actions. Performing standard project management duties, such as developing and managing financial and project records, contracts, bid specifications, charts, tables, etc. Developing project scope and costs for Phase I ESAs, Phase II site assessments, subsurface investigations (groundwater, surface water, soil, and sub-slab vapor), and permitting. Lead environmental tasks for multi-discipline design projects (e.g., Transportation, Water, Facilities, Construction Services) across the region/company. Act as a liaison with other internal design disciplines, subconsultants/subcontractors and regulatory agencies including high-level public and/or private contacts. Interpret analytical data for remediation and construction projects to develop appropriate and applicable conclusions and recommendations. Interface with regulators (e.g., NYSDEC, NJDEP) to effect successful outcomes for our clients. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related engineering field, geology, or environmental science (Masters degree is a plus). NY PE required Certifications including CEP, LSRP, PMP, etc. are not required but are a plus. 10-15 years of experience in AEC industry, delivering engineering consulting services with knowledge of applicable laws and regulations throughout the Northeast region. Demonstrate subject matter proficiency in subsurface investigations, remedial design, data analysis, interpretations, and reporting. HAZWOPER 40-hour training. Minimum five (5) years of Project Management experience. Knowledgeable in applicable federal, state and local environmental regulations. Must be able to commute to NYC office as needed.
