Lead Engineer - Transmission Line Location:

Tampa, FL and Orlando, FL area

Type:

Full-Time

Pay: $120K-$140K (depending on experience)

We're looking for a

Lead Engineer

to drive high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead transmission line projects. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, project oversight, and team mentorship. You'll be responsible for ensuring quality deliverables, meeting client deadlines, and keeping the team engaged and aligned.

What You'll Do:

Lead and manage a team of engineers, designers, and drafters

Set clear expectations and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture

Oversee the design process including line routing, PLS-CADD modeling, structure and foundation design, clearance checks, and plan/profile development

Coordinate with survey teams, permitting bodies, subcontractors, and vendors

Review and approve engineering submittals

Support infrastructure planning around access roads and land use (note: not responsible for direct civil design)

Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation

Serve as a technical resource and coach for junior team members

Develop and maintain strong client relationships

Assist with project estimating and proposal development

What We're Looking For:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Professional Engineer (PE) license (or can Reciprocate within 3 months)

10+ years of transmission line design experience in the utility industry

Expert-level PLS-CADD

Strong knowledge of NESC, IEEE, ASCE, ACI standards

Experience working across disciplines including substation, environmental, real estate, and construction

Strong project management, organizational, and leadership skills

Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Excellent communication skills-both technical and client-facing

Must pass motor vehicle check per company policy
