Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the safe, on time and on budget completion of assigned projects in aluminum extrusion, fabrication, and billet casting facilities. Capital projects are typically $1M - $40M and could consist of refurbishments of existing equipment and/or new equipment installations. Projects are expected to be developed within Hydro’s Capital Value Process. Typical job duties include working in a cross functional team from business case development through project hand-off to operations, schedule and budget reporting, analyzing and adjusting project team performance, delegating tasks effectively, and closing projects. The position is currently assigned to support facilities and projects at Hydro locations in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Utah locations. Job Location:

$120,000-$140,000 Required Education/Experience: 5 + years of experience in a manufacturing environment and with capital project life cycle. Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and or equivalent work experience is preferred. Proven success in plant mechanical engineering projects, especially equipment specification, installation, and hand-off to operation teams. Evidence of successful collaboration and motivation in cross functional teams. Mechanical Engineering and/or manufacturing engineering background. Combustion, hydraulic and pneumatic experience is preferred. Experience in extrusion, casting and fabrication operations is preferred. Experience installing mill grade equipment. Microsoft Project Strong communication and technical writing skills Ability to manage AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks drawings Lean Manufacturing principles including waste reduction experience. Job Responsibilities: Safe, on time and on budget development and execution of capital projects. Mechanical engineering / design responsibilities from concept development through hand-off to plant through established PESHA process. Work with internal and external engineering resources, equipment suppliers and construction contractors to achieve project goals. Perform a variety of engineering tasks such as analytical problem solving, design calculations, review of proposal from equipment suppliers and contractors, selection of equipment and contractors and drawing management. Management of contractors in a safe and productive way. Participate cross functional teams towards common project goals. Travel to vendor & supplier sites (domestic and international) as required. Spend minimum 3 of 4 weeks each month at plant site (4.5 days per week). Must spend quality time on floor with project team and understand the construction and start-up actions. Travel:
Depending on assignment and location, up to 80%. Relocation is not required. However, Relocation to an established plant location in Indiana, Pennsylvania or Utah is included.
