Our team collaborates globally, with over 1200 colleagues in 75+ countries, meeting in person a few times a year to align on strategy and execution. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team working closely with cloud giants such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google to optimize Ubuntu for their infrastructure. Your team will build, test, and publish Ubuntu images used by millions, ensuring performance and security in cloud environments. As a manager, you will bring technical expertise and leadership skills, representing your team in partner engagements, and ensuring the stability and functionality of our cloud offerings. You will focus on automating image delivery for diverse workloads, from web servers to AI applications. Your responsibilities include: Building and leading a team of engineers across timezones Mentoring and developing talent Contributing to team goals through sound engineering practices Managing expectations with stakeholders Leading agile development practices Fostering a healthy, collaborative culture Collaborating with leadership and other teams Building reliable automated pipelines for image delivery Engaging with open source communities and partners Traveling up to 15% for events and meetings Ideal candidates will have: A passion for mentoring and developing engineers Strong software development background in Python and Golang Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure Excellent communication skills A degree in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalent We offer a distributed work environment, learning budgets, competitive compensation, benefits, and opportunities for travel and professional growth.
