Geotechnical & Tunnel Engineer
with tunneling/underground structures experience for our Transportation and Infrastructure Division. Key responsibilities will include: Performing design of tunnels, earth retention systems, rock and soil slopes, and deep foundations. Designing rock and soil tunnel initial support using numerical and empirical methods. Preparing drawings and developing engineering reports. Developing and implementing geotechnical subsurface exploration plans. Preparing geotechnical data reports, interpretive reports, baseline reports, and design reports. Participating in project decisions regarding technical approaches, costs, and schedules. Interpreting geology, geotechnical, and hydrologic conditions and understanding their impact on design and construction. Assisting in the preparation of proposals. Required Experience: Experience with heavy civil underground structures such as cut-and-cover and mined tunnels, caverns, shafts, and underground structures like substations and treatment facilities across the US and Canada. Minimum of 11 years of experience in geotechnical engineering focusing on underground structures. Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within a year. Proven record of using and supervising PLAXIS software in projects. Experience with PLAXIS 2D and 3D, and ITASCA software (FLAC 2D and UDEC) is highly preferred but not required. Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related disciplines. Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience in rock and soil logging, tunnel mapping, and subsurface investigations is preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous experience supervising junior staff.
