$160,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr We placed the CFO at this firm - one of the most respected independent reinsurance brokerage firms in the U.S.—a company ranked among the Top 10 by earned brokerage and known for its deep technical expertise and relationship-first culture. Structured as an ESOP, the firm has a long history of driving employee wealth creation while delivering consistent EBITDA growth and exceptional client retention. You’ll be leading efforts to modernize and scale the finance infrastructure—from accelerating the monthly close and enhancing reporting to strengthening internal controls and mentoring a highly capable team. Key Responsibilities
Oversee and continuously improve the monthly close process across brokerage, investment accounting, and compensation/benefits (including equity) Review US GAAP financial statements and perform variance analyses across the income statement, balance sheet, cash flows, and stockholders’ equity Maintain strong technical understanding of equity and stock-based compensation accounting Prepare quarterly management reporting packages and other periodic financial reports Implement and document best-in-class close processes with a focus on internal controls and scalability Work closely with Legal and HR to develop policies, controls, and compliance frameworks Act as primary liaison with external auditors and manage the execution of annual audits Lead and participate in special projects across the finance function Mentor and develop team members to build bench strength within the accounting group
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA helpful but not required 8–10 years of relevant experience in reinsurance (required), insurance, or brokerage accounting Proven leadership experience with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams Demonstrates initiative, a strong work ethic, and ability to operate independently with urgency Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
The role is hybrid, with two days a week in the office (you choose the days), and compensation in the $160,000 to $200,000 base range (some flexibility upwards for the right person), plus bonus and ESOP.
