Fieldpiece Instruments is hiring an

Engineering Manager

to provide strategic direction, oversee R&D policies and workflows, manage a cross-functional and matrixed engineering team, build organizational capabilities and capacity, and manage the engineering budget. The Manager fosters a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer-centric innovation while mentoring talent and managing strategic supplier relationships to support corporate growth objectives. The ideal candidate brings over 10 years of R&D product development experience with a strong technical / engineering background. You excel at developing engineers and ensuring the team is efficiently resourced on various product development projects to bring maximum results. You’ve created and managed budgets and worked effectively with ODMs and other strategic suppliers. Finally, you bring decisive, empathic leadership to a people-first, collaborative environment. What You’ll Do Promote a productive, growth-oriented R&D culture focused on innovation, quality, user experience, and customer needs. Develop engineering capabilities and capacity aligned with company strategy. Manage and mentor matrixed engineering teams embedded in cross-functional product development, ensure resource alignment, utilization, and accountability. Demonstrate empathetic, decisive leadership that supports employee growth and well-being and organizational effectiveness. Optimize R&D operations and apply Lean tools to enhance productivity and execution. Implement efficient, cost-effective workflows that support high-quality, timely product delivery. Resolve engineering, customer, supplier, and quality issues with urgency and effectiveness. Develop and manage the R&D budget to ensure optimal resource allocation across multiple simultaneous projects. Build and maintain strong ODM and strategic supplier relationships to expand development capabilities. Negotiate supplier contracts, manage the IP portfolio, and ensure regulatory and certification compliance. Be a talent magnet. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field; Master’s or MBA preferred. 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including managing cross-functional and matrixed teams in an R&D environment. Proven experience leading NPD initiatives and managing ODM/strategic supplier relationships. Expertise in budgeting, resource planning, and performance management. Strategic mindset with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills across technical and business functions. Proficient in MS Office and project management tools; experienced with Lean product development practices. Ability to travel up to 25% nationally and internationally. Excellent benefits! Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
