Job Description: Magnet Program Coordinator

Full Time I First Shift Lexington, KY The Magnet Program Coordinator serves as a resource person and expert in the standards of magnet designation. The Magnet Program Coordinator lends expertise to patient care excellence through clinical leadership, collaboration, education and the support of nursing-led research and performance improvement benefiting both staff and patients. The role entails strategic and deliberate planning and implementation of programs and services to ensure compliance with magnet recognition standards. This individual must have high level communication skills and excellent collegial relationships. Serves as a role model for caring and honors the patient’s mind, body and spirit. This individual exemplifies the values of compassion, acceptance, respect and empathy in all interactions as well as the relationship between the mind, body and spirit of everyone. Description: · Collaborates with CNO regarding the planning, coordinating, and evaluating effectiveness of the shared professional governance model. · Communicates revisions, updates, and related initiatives regarding Magnet standards to key stakeholders through the professional governance model. • Provides direct support for Nursing Leadership Council and Magnet Nurse Champions including support of staff elected leader. · Partners with professional governance councils to maintain updated bylaws and related documents. · Coordinates policy updates and implementation based on published evidence, research, and regulatory standards in collaboration with CNO, house-wide professional governance and related initiatives councils. · Works with intradepartmental and multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration of evidence-based patient care standards supporting excellence across organization and integrated into formal policy as assigned. · Ensures communication occurs across departments and disciplines to support projects and initiatives and culture of excellence. · Recommends practice changes to facilitate and optimize patient care while incorporating standards for patient safety and Magnet designation. · Collaborates with others including educators in the evaluation of educational programming for the purpose of improving performance and/or outcome/s. · Identifies and communicates areas of success; celebrates and encourages promotion of best practices. · Ensures a review of research literature by appropriate individuals related to new programs/procedures and process and policy revisions. · Benchmarks with other facilities as indicated or directed and represents BH Lexington in benchmarking as an expert for others. · Exhibits the ability to motivate self and others in educational pursuits. · Attend staff and committee meetings as well as institutional activities as indicated. · Participate in professional organizations. · Assures the documentation of educational baselines and trends for nursing personnel. · Enhance self-development on a continual basis, maintaining current knowledge in clinical education and area of specialty. · Advocates and mentors nursing staff on professional development through participation in professional governance activities, membership in professional organizations and presenting in local, state, and national presentations and/or publications. Requirements: · Master’s Degree. · Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky. · Basic Life Support. · Experience with accreditation standards, documentation and regulatory processes. · Well-versed in nursing practice standards of organizations. · Expertise with the national standards of Magnet nursing excellence.
