Interim Senior-Level Controller – Professional Services (Consulting Role)

Ongoing Project-Based Assignment Our client, a well-regarded professional services firm, is seeking a seasoned

Senior-Level Controller Consultant

to provide hands-on support to their in-house accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance leader with professional services and time & billing expertise. Key Responsibilities: Lead monthly close activities, including journal entries and full G/L oversight (excluding cash)

Manage and improve the client billing process, including consultant accruals

Perform and review reconciliations across all accounts except cash

Oversee project profitability reporting and analysis

Collaborate with the project accountant and A/P-payroll staff to streamline operations

Ensure accurate financial reporting and maintain compliance with internal processes

Adapt quickly to systems; experience with Deltek Vantagepoint a plus (not required)

Communicate effectively across departments; maintain a professional, solutions-focused approach

Qualifications: Prior experience in a professional services firm with time and billing systems

Strong financial systems knowledge (beyond QuickBooks)

Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferred

CPA preferred

Excellent communication and leadership skills

Flexible, collaborative, and hands-on working style

This is an immediate full-time on-site need. Hybrid work schedule, Washington, DC location. For the qualified candidate, the compensation rate will be a minimum of $70.00 per hour, depending on experience. To be considered, please submit your most current resume and contact information.
