Position Description: The Project Engineer (PE) oversees all on-site project administration and manages office engineers and the jobsite administrator. The PE is responsible for project financials, planning, scheduling, supervising personnel, and completing tasks to meet project goals. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and proficiency with project management tools and software. The PE collaborates with stakeholders at all levels and negotiates with owners, suppliers, and trade partners to resolve disputes and manage changes. Position Qualifications: A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management. 2-4 years of experience on large commercial construction projects. Valid Drivers License. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), Prolog, Primavera, and AutoDesk Suite.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous internships in the construction industry. Assist the project manager and superintendents with: Preparing monthly owner pay applications. Resolving interface conflicts among company and trade partners. Interpreting drawings, specifications, RFIs, and questions from the architect/engineer. Managing cost control and labor recaps with the project team. Estimating and processing change orders and RFI responses. Developing and managing project schedules. Supporting engineering details and design. Tracking and reporting project progress. Conducting production analysis. Managing procurement and field purchases. Leading weekly meetings with owners, architects, and contractors, and maintaining minutes. Performing monthly margin analysis. Maintaining project records via the Book of 14. Participating in safety meetings and audits. Facilitating quality control activities. Interpreting BIM and VDC specifications. Managing, training, and mentoring office engineers and the jobsite administrator.
Physical Work Classification & Demands: Moderate physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and performing various movements such as walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, stooping, and climbing. The role involves operating office machinery, reading blueprints, and field measurements, and working in outdoor environments with exposure to temperature variations and noise.
