What is the Mission?
MAJUS Consulting is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead the design and implementation of highly available network infrastructures focused on failover optimization and outage prevention. The mission is to ensure uninterrupted network performance across enterprise environments by strengthening system resilience, minimizing downtime, and maintaining secure, mission-critical connectivity in the event of ISP failures, hardware malfunctions, or misconfigurations. What Will You Do?
Network Availability & Failover Optimization Assess, document, and enhance failover configurations for routers, switches, and ISP handoff points. Implement and optimize high-availability protocols such as HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP. Design and deploy multi-path network solutions, SD-WAN failover strategies, and BGP/OSPF routing enhancements. Develop runbooks and incident response plans to minimize service disruptions Conduct failover drills and resilience testing to proactively uncover vulnerabilities. Cisco Network Infrastructure & Security Manage and fine-tune Cisco routers (ISR, ASR), switches (Catalyst, Nexus), and firewall setups. Configure and troubleshoot Cisco ASA, Firepower, and Palo Alto firewalls to support secure failover scenarios. Implement load balancing and traffic shaping using F5 BIG-IP, Citrix ADC, or Cisco ACE. Collaborate with security teams to align network and firewall policies under Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA). Performance Monitoring & Outage Prevention Leverage tools like SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center, ThousandEyes, and Splunk for real-time network monitoring. Establish automated alerting systems to identify and remediate performance issues early. Develop disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity strategies specific to network infrastructure. What Skills Do You Possess?
Deep knowledge of high availability (HA), failover, and redundancy strategies. Strong background in routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP. Expertise with MPLS, SD-WAN, network segmentation, and hybrid cloud environments. Proficient in configuring firewall failovers, VLAN segmentation, and network access controls. Skilled in analyzing and optimizing Cisco and multi-vendor network environments. Familiar with implementing federal security standards including DHS CDM, FedRAMP, and TIC 3.0. Specific Qualifications & Skills
8+ years of experience in network engineering roles. CCIE (preferred) or CCNP certification required. Experience working with Cisco ISR/ASR routers, Catalyst/Nexus switches, ASA and Firepower firewalls. Familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls and tools like F5 BIG-IP or Citrix ADC. Hands-on experience with monitoring platforms such as ThousandEyes, Cisco DNA Center, SolarWinds, and Splunk. Practical knowledge of failover testing, DR planning, and business continuity in critical infrastructure environments. Certifications & Additional Skills (Optional)
CCIE (preferred) CCNP (required) Certifications or experience related to SD-WAN, Zero Trust, or cloud networking are a plus. Security Requirements
Must be eligible to work in secure, federal environments. Familiarity with federal IT security and compliance frameworks (DHS CDM, FedRAMP, TIC 3.0) required. Salary and Benefits
