American Engineering is currently seeking a Grading Superintendent to join our team! Job Responsibilities and Requirements: SAFETY Safety is a PRIORITY. Review site and site conditions prior to mobilization to identify potential hazards or safety concerns. Advise GS and PM accordingly. Advise foreman and jobsite personnel accordingly. Enforce safety regulations (OSHA/AEDC) and educate employees on policy. FIELD OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT Review and be familiar with construction plans and specifications. Review and understand project grading scope. Review and understand project schedule milestones and completion dates. Review and understand project manual: Vendors Subcontractors Inspecting authorities and their requirements Log requests and scheduled dates. Log special conditions. Evaluate the need for soft dig conflict locations and advise GS & PM. Attend review meetings with assigned PM: Review activity sequence and commencement. Review special conditions of contract: Phasing Staging limitations Schedule requirements and milestones Open question and answer session Attend pre-construction meetings with the client: Review mobilization date. Review phasing if included in contract scope. Review construction sequence. Review construction access, work areas, and staging requirements if needed. Review testing and inspection process. Review other trade interfaces: Plumber Electrician Irrigation Fire sprinkler Request and retain copies of all required permits. Coordinate and schedule all manpower and equipment required to construct the project on schedule and within the framework of the HCSS field estimate report. Coordinate equipment mobilization with GS & dispatcher. Monitor and return all rental equipment and tools on a daily basis. Coordinate and schedule all survey stakeouts. Schedule vendor and subcontractor sequencing: Superintendent will order and release materials, vendors, and subcontractors in accordance with the project manual designations and PM intervention: PO's issued by PM to identify vendors and subcontractors. Schedule delivery of materials via dispatcher. Schedule and supervise subcontractors. Provide adequate notice to accommodate the overall project schedule. Schedule and log all inspection requests and results with City, FDOT, and engineer. Provide hands-on verification of concrete and pavement subgrades. Schedule and coordinate testing activities: Soil proctor LBR Organic - if needed Contaminants - if needed Asphalt Concrete Monitor crew performance and productivity: Review daily production as it relates to estimate/manual. Consult with GS & PM if field production falls short of estimate. Make personal contact with the client's project superintendent on a daily basis. Discuss progress, short and long-term schedule objectives.

Be proactive... Think Ahead!! Attend weekly jobsite meetings as required. Be prepared to discuss two (2) week look-ahead schedules, strategies, and logistics. Plan in advance with the client superintendent to establish efficient work areas. Assure proper and productive coordination with other trades affected by our work. Coordinate and monitor the integration of grading and utility operations: Discuss proposed work areas and progression. Confirm utility density testing prior to final subgrade preparation. Confirm pressure testing prior to final subgrade preparation. Protect manholes, valve boxes, and catch basins from damage. Manage removal of debris and surplus materials from site. Maintain a high level of quality in our work product and that of our subcontractors. DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN STRONG CLIENT RELATIONS!!! Coordinate and attend final inspections to facilitate permit close-outs. Coordinate and prosecute final punch list to completion. DOCUMENTATION Prepare accurate and timely production reports. Prepare detailed T&M tickets and have signed by GC on a daily basis. Prepare accurate and correctly coded time sheets with detailed work descriptions. Prepare and process Action Forms well in advance of requested vacation time.
