Over the years, CES expanded its services to include utility management, construction at-risk, and civil engineering services.
We are currently hiring a Paving Inspector for the Maryland area.
Position Summary:
A Paving Inspector is responsible for providing paving, concrete, striping, and landscaping restoration services in coordination with the WSSC Restoration Services Coordinators and Restoration Contract Managers. Specific duties will include preliminary inspection and markup of areas to be restored, preparation and processing of restoration work orders, observation of restoration work in process, final inspection of completed work, and coordination with local authorities. The WSSC Paving Inspector is responsible for ensuring full compliance with WSSC, SHA, County, and local municipality’s specifications and other duties, including:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Inspects paving, concrete, striping, and landscaping restoration.
Prepares restoration work orders for processing.
Coordinates restoration work with contractors and local authorities.
Inspects completed work and approves payment.
Responds to emergencies when deemed necessary.
Completes Daily Inspection Reports, Timesheets, and Mileage reports in a timely manner.
Provides training to new paving inspectors.
Assists the Restoration Services Coordinators and Contract Managers as needed.
Attends staff meetings as scheduled.
Education, Certifications, and Experience:
The qualifications for this role include the following:
High school diploma or equivalent and three years’ experience with paving operations/inspections or three years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance, construction, or sub-professional engineering work.
Experience includes concrete sidewalk, driveway and curb and gutter restoration, new pavement and roadway construction and restoration.
Knowledge of soil compaction methods and testing, environmental regulations, including sediment and erosion control.
Knowledge of traffic control methods and requirements.
Ability to interpret construction plans and drawings, including WSSC, SHA, County, and other municipality specifications and standards.
Ability to compute quantities of construction materials installed.
Knowledge of basic mathematics and ability to calculate cost estimates for work orders.
Work outdoors in inclement weather and possess the ability to lift objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.
Basic knowledge of computer programs, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Office Outlook.
Must communicate fluently in English, both oral and written.
