SMBC Capital Markets, Inc Front Office Technology team is looking for a senior Java Software Engineer for their front office suite of applications, supporting trading, sales, marketing, trade analysis and research in its New York Office. This is an opportunity to contribute to build out their new pre-trade and trading system.
SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. is a market maker for swaps, including interest rate, currency and commodity swaps and related derivative products, headquartered in New York as a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMBC. SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. was provisionally registered as a swap dealer with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on December 31, 2012. Our business works in close collaboration with SMBC Nikko Capital Markets, Capital Markets Limited in the UK, and SMBC Capital Markets Asia, Ltd in Hong Kong to provide global coverage to SMBC's corporate, institutional, and project clients. Capital Markets maintains its own middle and back-office functions, including Risk Management, Compliance, Systems, Finance, and Operations.
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $137,000 and $196,000. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Software developer with at least 10 years of experience in Java development and proven knowledge of computer science concepts including concurrency, algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems. Required: Proactive self-starter able to take initiative and get things done Experienced in delivering end user applications or platform technology/API from design to production Extensive experience and proven understanding of distributed systems, developing, debugging, profiling and maintaining multi-threaded/asynchronous applications. JVM monitoring, performance tuning, using tools such as JConsole, JVisualVM, JProfiler, Java Mission Control. Preferred: Experience with distributed/global teams Experience with Cloud deployment, AWS or Azure managed services Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, or related discipline About the company
