As a
Manager, Cloud Software Engineer – Backend , you will lead a team of backend engineers responsible for building and maintaining TP-Link’s cloud services that support smart home and networking products. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise and a passion for team development, architecture, and delivering scalable cloud solutions. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage
a team of backend engineers, providing technical direction, mentorship, and career development. Own the backend architecture
for scalable, secure, and high-availability cloud services. Collaborate cross-functionally
with product, frontend, mobile, QA, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration and product delivery. Drive
design and implementation
of microservices, APIs, and backend components supporting IoT platforms and connected devices. Establish
engineering best practices , including coding standards, code reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipelines. Ensure strong observability, monitoring, and reliability of backend systems. Act as a
technical point of escalation , helping troubleshoot complex issues and unblock the team. Participate in
capacity planning, roadmapping, and sprint planning
in collaboration with product and project managers. Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve systems and processes. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of backend development experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or management role. Proven expertise in backend languages such as
Go, Java, Python , or equivalent. Strong background in designing and operating
cloud-native applications
(AWS, GCP, or Azure). Deep understanding of
distributed systems, microservices, RESTful APIs , and
event-driven architecture . Experience working with
Kubernetes, Docker , and container orchestration platforms. Proficiency with
SQL and NoSQL databases , and message queues such as
Kafka, MQTT, or RabbitMQ . Experience leading
agile teams
and working in fast-paced, collaborative environments. Excellent communication and leadership skills with a track record of team success. Preferred Qualifications Experience in
IoT or connected device ecosystems . Familiarity with
DevOps practices , CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins), and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform). Contributions to open-source or demonstrated engagement in technical communities. Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset with a hands-on approach.
