Would you like to become part of a dynamic, ENR Magazine Top 150 design firm which provides engineering services for a diverse portfolio of projects for public agencies including the US Army Corps of Engineers, TxDOT, Harris County Flood Control District, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and other local agencies throughout Texas?
Huitt-Zollars Inc. is seeking an experienced drainage engineer for an immediate full-time position in Houston. Preference is given to graduate engineers with 2+ years of experience, especially those familiar with the Houston area.
The role involves collaborating within a team to provide drainage analysis, modeling, and design for public infrastructure and transportation projects.
Responsibilities and Requirements: 1. Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic models using tools like HEC RAS & HEC HMS. 2. Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic studies and FEMA permitting. 3. Research jurisdictional drainage requirements for incorporation into design and construction drawings. 4. Produce drainage designs and construction drawings using AutoCAD and Microstation. 5. Manage data and prepare exhibits with ArcGIS and QGIS. 6. Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team. 7. Conduct site visits and document findings. 8. Attend meetings, record minutes, and assist with project correspondence. 9. Prepare graphic materials for presentations and reports.
Qualifications: - BS in Civil Engineering with a focus on hydraulics and hydrology. - EIT certification in Texas preferred.
Skills and Abilities: - Ability to prepare civil engineering documents and specifications. - Effective teamwork and communication skills. - Ability to present technical information clearly. - Proficiency in designing printed and digital documents.
Knowledge of software including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PondPack, XPSwmm, ArcHydro, GeoRAS, GeoHMS, InfoWorks, HEC-RAS 2D, GEOPAK Drainage, CivilStorm, and Civil3D.
