Job Opening: Hearing Itinerant - Special Education
Crystal Lake School District 47 currently has an opening for a Hearing Itinerant. The goal of this position is to provide students with disabilities an opportunity to succeed in accordance with their Individual Educational Plan (IEP).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and administer an appropriate program of instruction for students identified as having disabilities
Prepare an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each child
Monitor and update each Individual Education Plan
Confer with parents concerning the Individual Education Plan
Provide appropriate assessment and evaluation of each child's program
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Submit required testing and update information in a timely fashion
Attend in-service programs to remain current in all areas dealing with special education disabilities
Provide parents and teachers with suggestions on how to be more effective with children with disabilities
Use appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance critical, creative, and evaluative thinking of students
Use instruction strategies and materials reflecting each student's culture, learning styles, and needs
Fulfill the terms of any affected written contract and adhere to the Codes of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Illinois
Assist in the enforcement of all federal, state, and district regulations, policies, and procedures
Monitor students in testing environments
Make decisions and perform tasks in accordance with District 47's policies and philosophies
Ensure compliance with Board rules and applicable laws and regulations
Case manage students to ensure all services are provided
Perform other tasks or services consistent with this position's goals
Skills and Experience Required:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
Hearing Impairment Endorsement
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Adaptability to perform various duties, often changing tasks without loss of efficiency or composure
Physical and Mental Requirements:
High levels of flexibility, interpersonal skills, articulation, concentration, confidentiality, and organization
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting equipment or materials
Demonstrate high levels of flexibility, articulation, concentration, and confidentiality
