The Day Habilitation Provider in the Developmental Disabilities Department serves as a role model and advocate.
Duties & Responsibilities: The Day Habilitation Provider ensures consumer safety by providing consistent supervision and observation. Promotes a homelike atmosphere in the Residence and a nurturing learning environment in the Day Habilitation Program. Implements Individual Habilitation Plans and provides training of adult living skills in a dignified and respectful manner.
Education & Experience: A high school diploma, related experience preferred, and a valid New York State driver’s license is required.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively with staff and consumers. The employee frequently is required to stand for long periods of time, use mobility, restrain consumers when necessary, and reach for objects. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Light duty is not permissible. All SCIP-R physical interventions (Perform Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention as necessary for physical restraint and control of individuals exhibiting aggressive behaviors). Stair climbing required (where applicable). Must be able to go up and down approximately 20 stairs to the 2nd floor bedrooms, 3.6 times a day at a minimum.
