About the
NASA Postdoctoral Program The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at NASA Centers, NASA Headquarters, or NASA-affiliated research institutes. These fellowships last from one to three years, are competitive, and aim to advance NASAs missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. Description: The postdoctoral fellow will apply machine learning and/or other data science techniques to conduct scientific research, improve remote sensing data products and analysis, integrate machine learning with physics-based models, and/or enhance processing of remotely-sensed Earth Science data. The fellow will be part of the NASA Earth eXchange (NEX). Current NEX activities include exploiting global geostationary operational satellites for Earth science research and applications, synthesizing low-earth orbiting and geostationary satellite remote sensing data, modeling terrestrial and marine/aquatic systems, climate downscaling and resilience, and developing open science tools and software for data processing. Candidates are encouraged to contact the NEX team to discuss research topics beyond these activities. Field of Science:
Earth Science Advisors: Ian Brosnan ian.g.brosnan@nasa.gov (650) 604-1881 Note:
Applications from citizens of Designated Countries will not be accepted unless they are Legal Permanent Residents of the United States. A full list of Designated Countries can be found at: https://www.nasa.gov/oiir/export-control. Eligibility: U.S. Citizens; U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR); Foreign Nationals eligible for an Exchange Visitor J-1 visa status; Applicants who are LPR, asylees, or refugees in the U.S. at the time of application with a valid EAD card and pending I-485 or I-589 forms.
