QC Field Manager - Canon City, CO
United Companies Quality Control Department is growing! We are hiring a QC Field Manager. The Field Manager will be responsible for creating and maintaining schedules for testing aggregate, asphalt, and concrete in accordance with industry standards. The role will consist of developing an efficient and productive field labs along with training and developing teammates. Successful candidates are self-starters, problem solvers, team oriented, motivated by continuous improvement, and possess a “will do” attitude. This position will evolve, change and grow over time. The Field Manager will report to and work directly with the Quality Control Manager.
Pay is dependent on experience and qualifications: $26 - $38 p/h
Responsibilities:
Create and maintain a daily schedule for sampling and testing aggregates, asphalt, and concrete
Train and assist in personal development of other team members.
Review test results and work with QC Manager and Field Superintendents if non-conformance arises
Assist QC Manager with the training of QC Techs for ACI & LabCAT certifications
Assist sales efforts with quality-related customer questions and site visits
Communicates with Crushers, Asphalt, & Concrete plants to assist with testing
Provides oversight and assists with daily reports
Assist with troubleshooting of situations or equipment within a field lab or onsite project
Work with staff to calibrate all field equipment as per schedule
Sampling and testing of materials as necessary
Assist and maintain lab accreditations for CDOT, AASHTO, ASTM, & CCRL
Assist and guide staff in maintaining a safe and clean work environment
Assist and lead Safety Meetings daily
Work directly with QC Lab Manager
Assist Quality Control Manager as needed
Job duties may vary based on company needs.
Qualifications:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent required; technical degree preferred
Proficient in math, MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, reading and writing skills
Candidates must pass pre-employment background and drug screen
Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather if necessary
Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk on uneven terrain
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. If lifting more than 50 lbs, employee is required to have a second person assisting.
Ability to work various hours including Saturday and overtime
ACI and/or LabCAT certified or willing to obtain within 6 Months.
Valid driver’s license and a clean motor vehicle record is required
Minimum 3+ years staff management experience preferred
Minimum 3+ years of related education or experience in construction materials testing preferred, preferably in soils, concrete and asphalt
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Competent in reviewing and interpretation of construction plans and specifications
