Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and hands-on AWS DevOps Engineer to join our growing Fintech software company. The successful candidate will possess strong technical and ethical qualities, ensuring the utmost reliability and security of our software solutions. Reporting directly to the Head of Infrastructure, the AWS DevOps Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing our infrastructure, automating processes, and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset are essential for this role, as the AWS DevOps Engineer will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders.
This role is based in our New York City office and follows the Company's current hybrid work policy.
Responsibilities
️ Cloud Infrastructure & Automation
Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and cost-effective AWS infrastructure. Automate deployment, monitoring, and management processes to minimize manual interventions. Develop and manage Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
CI/CD & Collaboration
Work closely with software engineering teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.). Ensure seamless integration of infrastructure and application code through DevOps best practices. Support build and deployment automation for Java-based microservices Develop and maintain documentation for architecture, processes, and runbooks
Networking & Certificate Management
Spin up and manage VPCs, subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, and security groups. Configure and manage ALBs/NLBs, Route 53, and DNS routing. Automate provisioning and renewal of TLS/SSL certificates (ACM, Let’s Encrypt, certbot) Maintain firewall rules, bastion hosts, and VPN/Direct Connect configurations. Monitor and troubleshoot network latency and bottlenecks using CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs, etc.
Security, Identity & Secrets Management
Implement secure handling of secrets, keys, and certificates using AWS Secrets Manager, SSM, or Vault. Configure mutual TLS (mTLS) and secure service communication. Support integration with identity management platforms such as AWS Cognito, Keycloak, Okta, or Auth0 Ensure cloud infrastructure complies with security standards (SOC2, PCI).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. 3+ years of experience in DevOps, CloudOps, or Site Reliability roles, with a focus on AWS. Experience supporting and optimizing Java-based application workloads in cloud environments Deep expertise in AWS services: EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudFormation. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Shell Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and containers (Docker) Solid foundation in networking and Linux system administration.
Preferred Qualifications
AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, Solutions Architect – Associate) Experience with container orchestration tools (e.g., ECS, EKS, Kubernetes) Hands-on experience with identity and access management solutions like Cognito, Keycloak, Okta, or Auth0
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and a collaborative approach to problem-solving
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to identify and implement creative solutions Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex
technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, including experience working with cross-functional teams and remote colleagues
