Job Description Summary

This position focuses on disease states (e.g., prostate cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, etc.) being treated by Novartis’ Radioligand Therapies.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role is a field-based, customer-facing, non-promotional medical and scientific position. The MSL’s key objective is to create impact through advancing clinical practice within the assigned territory, leading to improved patient outcomes. The MSL must demonstrate deep therapeutic expertise, understand territory and market influences, engage scientifically with Healthcare Providers (HCPs) and medical experts, manage and develop their territory, and execute all relevant activities in alignment with the medical strategic and tactical plan, while adhering to the Novartis Code of Conduct, Ethics/Compliance policies, and Working Practice documents. The MSL will inform and shape medical strategy through a curious mindset to collect impactful and actionable insights, understanding their strategic impact.

This territory covers NYC and Long Island. The preferred location for the candidate is within the NYC or Long Island areas. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the territory border; relocation is not available.

Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. The MSL will leverage scientific expertise and market knowledge to establish and build professional relationships and engage with HCPs (including community physicians, pharmacists, medical experts, nurses, and other healthcare professionals) and thought leaders in the geographical area, aligned with the medical strategy.
  2. The primary responsibility is to engage with customers through activities such as emerging data discussions, clinical trial activities, uncovering barriers in the patient journey, understanding market dynamics, exploring unmet medical needs, pipeline discussions, educating on disease states and products, capturing adverse events, and gathering medical insights throughout the product lifecycle.
  3. Demonstrate strategic territory vision and ensure appropriate identification, mapping, and planning of Medical Engagements (MEs) and Key Accounts, in collaboration with internal colleagues. This includes:
    1. Identifying key stakeholders influencing the patient journey and disease space throughout the product development lifecycle.
    2. Identifying partnership opportunities with academic centers, centers of excellence, and systems of care.
    3. Identifying opportunities to involve HCPs or MEs based on specific medical needs (e.g., publications, clinical trial participation).
    4. Collaborating with other Novartis stakeholders to advance therapeutic area, clinical, or product goals.
  4. Providing clinical trial support for company-sponsored trials, facilitating relevant medical activities, and collaborating cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations.
  5. Collaborating with internal teams (e.g., HEOR, access, marketing, sales) to advance clinical practice while maintaining customer centricity and compliance.
  6. Maintaining in-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area and Novartis compounds to serve as a medical resource.
  7. Staying up-to-date with internal policies and external regulations affecting responsibilities.
  8. Executing administrative responsibilities and training (e.g., Veeva CRM, expense reports, compliance modules) timely, including profiling customers and updating CRM data.
  9. Championing emerging responsibilities as priorities evolve and proactively pursuing personal and professional development.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range at employment start is approximately $166,400 - $249,600 for Managers and $183,200 - $274,800 for ADs. Salary may vary based on location, experience, and other factors. The total package may include bonuses, stock units, and benefits such as medical, 401(k), paid time off, etc. Final salary decisions depend on various factors, and employment is at-will.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate degree in science or healthcare required; doctoral degree preferred (MD, PhD, DNP, PharmD, etc.)

Experience:

  • Manager Level: 0-3 years in a Field Medical role or 3-5 years in medical affairs/clinical research; relevant experience in the therapeutic area is preferred.
  • AD Level: Minimum 3 years in a Field Medical position or 5-7 years in medical affairs/clinical research; relevant experience preferred.

All levels require strong clinical knowledge, adherence to laws and policies, and field-based work with travel (~60-70%). Candidates must reside within the territory or within 50 miles of its border.

Training: Initial training will be completed within eight hours/day and forty hours/week.

Salary Range:

$160,300 - $297,700
