This individual will report to the Head of R&D in the Advanced Synthesis Business platform.
Role Purpose & Scope:
The U.S. Head of Advanced Bioconjugation Technologies will contribute to the overall R&D strategy by offering strategic input and a roadmap across the ADS platform to develop industry-leading and differentiated offerings, ensuring outstanding performance in development and manufacturing operations. This role involves leading a team of experts in chemistry, biology, automation, chemical engineering, and modeling across multiple projects, and coordinating external partnerships in an open innovation environment.
What You Will Do:
- Lead R&D efforts for bioconjugation process technologies across the organization and collaborate with relevant leads.
- Manage resources and projects aligned with platform priorities.
- Collaborate with R&D teams, functions, and operational sites to optimize processes and deploy new capabilities.
- Drive adoption of automation, analytics, and modeling technologies, including AI, through partnerships and collaborations.
What You Will Bring to Lonza:
- Proven experience in developing and deploying innovative bioconjugation technologies in a pharmaceutical/CDMO environment.
- Ability to operate effectively in a complex matrix environment.
- Scientific expertise in bioconjugation technologies, process development, automation, and modeling.
- Established collaboration networks and recognition as an SME in the field.
- Strategic and operational planning skills, with strong communication abilities to translate technical data into business insights.
Key Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Science or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Biology, or related fields.
- 5-10+ years of relevant experience in Pharma/CDMO settings, specifically in bioconjugation.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
