Are you interested in separately managed accounts, registered funds or alternative investments, like hedge funds or real assets? Or some or all of them? Do you know the Investment Advisers Act, the Investment Company Act, the Commodity Exchange Act and/or the Securities Exchange Act? Maybe you are familiar with operational risk control? Would you enjoy providing guidance and advice to the business, designing and running controls, interpreting and implementing regulatory change, conducting testing, surveillance and monitoring reviews, and challenging the status quo? Are you collegial, control minded, diligent and a rigorous thinker?
We are looking for an Asset Management compliance and operational risk control officer to:
- Support UBS Asset Management's separately managed accounts, registered funds and alternatives business areas in the Americas.
- Assist with the periodic review and update of compliance policies, procedures and processes of our funds and investment advisers.
- Conduct periodic, rules-based compliance monitoring, testing and reporting.
- Perform ongoing regulatory change analyses and tracking.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of various SEC and CFTC / NFA regulatory filings.
- Perform ongoing Code of Ethics reviews and approvals; provide Code of Ethics support.
- Contribute to analyses and enhancements of the operational risk taxonomy and control framework.
- Engage with central compliance teams and asset management global counterparties.
- Act as a compliance resource for the business.
- Support other periodic and ad-hoc compliance initiatives.
- New York, Chicago: the salary range for this role is $176000 to $229000
Your team
You’ll be working with the UBS Asset Management-aligned Compliance and Operational Risk Control (C&ORC) team in New York, Chicago, Stamford, Raleigh or Weehawken. We support UBS Asset Management's businesses in the Americas by partnering with them to effectively manage compliance and operational risk in an environment of increased scrutiny and constructive rigorous challenge. Our duties include implementing the Compliance and Operational Risk Framework of UBS' global AM Division and UBS Americas' Combined US Operations, and ensuring compliance and operational risks are identified, properly assessed, recorded and managed. You'll play an important role in helping us develop risk mitigating measures, controls and adequate remediation plans. You'll also collaborate with colleagues across the globe to ensure that best practices are shared and applied as needed.
Your expertise
- Proven asset management compliance, legal and/or operational risk expertise, ideally with 8 or more years of experience, either on the mutual funds or alternative investments side, or both.
- Must be a collegial team player. Relationship building skills are essential.
- Bachelor's degree. Advanced degrees, industry designations and/or FINRA licenses a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of the asset management regulatory and/or risk environment; bank-affiliated asset management experience a plus.
- Excellent organizational, analytical and communications skills.
- Ability to crisply discuss aspects of operational arrangements within an asset management or related business and challenge the business with an independent control mindset.
- Capacity to work with independence and exercise decision-making authority in matters relating to assigned compliance functions, balanced with strong collaboration skills.
