The primary focus of the Real Estate Debt Team is the origination and management of commercial real estate related debt products, including mortgage loans (fixed and floating rate) and structured debt investments (including construction and bridge loans), typically secured by industrial, multi-family, retail, office, and hotel properties.

The Southeast Regional Office manages commercial mortgage origination and portfolio efforts across 11 states, including markets like Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Nashville. Over the past four years, this office has originated approximately $6 billion in fixed and floating rate mortgages.

Position

The Senior Director of Commercial Mortgage Originations is responsible for proactively soliciting mortgage loan opportunities through developers, institutional owners/investors, and brokers. Responsibilities include all aspects of mortgage origination, business development, underwriting, due diligence, negotiation, and loan closing. The role also involves monitoring and managing existing regional mortgage portfolios. Travel is required.

Required Skills

  • Deep knowledge of Southeastern U.S. real estate markets and properties including industrial, retail, multi-family, office, and hotels.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and technical skills, with proficiency in Argus and Excel for cash flow analysis and valuations.
  • Ability to size and price loans, negotiate terms, and structure deals effectively.
  • Proven experience in all phases of commercial mortgage loan origination, underwriting, and closing.
  • Organized, proactive, responsible team player with strong interpersonal and marketing skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, creative problem-solving, and research abilities.
  • Capability to analyze market data, interact independently with borrowers and professionals, and gather relevant information.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities within a team environment.
  • Construction or structured lending experience is a plus.

Qualifications

Preferably, candidates should have a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, or related fields, with 10-15+ years of experience in commercial mortgage underwriting or origination, preferably with a major financial institution or broker. A proven track record, strong work ethic, and team collaboration skills are essential. Industry designations like CCIM or CFA, or coursework toward these, are advantageous.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $175,000-$225,000

Discretionary bonus eligibility: Yes
