Job Description
Location: San Francisco Bay Area (onsite or relocation required)
Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $196,000 – $220,000 base + equity + benefits
Team: Developer Platform — focused initially on game studio experience
Mission: Design cohesive, empowering, and delightful tools and experiences for game developers, community managers, and marketers using Discord.
- End-to-End Design Ownership:
- Embed within a product squad and partner closely with engineers, product managers, researchers, and data scientists to design experiences from concept through launch and iteration.
- Design Craft & Execution:
- Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and ensure pixel-perfect implementation. Continuously quality-check design output.
- Shape your team’s roadmap through deep understanding of the product and act as a design thought leader.
- Design System Contribution:
- Identify and fill gaps in the design system; contribute reusable UX and design patterns to reduce design debt.
- Actively participate in team design critiques, share feedback, and contribute to a culture of openness and high standards.
What You Should Have
- 5+ years leading design on end-to-end consumer products across platforms (web, mobile, desktop, console).
- Experience as a design lead for squads, features, or teams; confident in making design decisions and communicating to stakeholders.
- Passion for crafting high-quality developer experiences.
- Expert-level skills in Figma and a high-fidelity prototyping tool (e.g., Protopie, Framer).
- Strong product thinking with strategic vision; able to translate complex requirements into intuitive UX.
- Mastery of design fundamentals: typography, color theory, layout, interaction design, with pixel-perfect attention to detail.
- Compelling storytelling and communication skills to influence peers and leadership.
- Data-informed design mindset: use qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions.
- Experience contributing to design systems and reusable components.
- Willingness to reside in or relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area .
