About:

Alexander Steele have currently partnered with a leader within the dairy ingredients industry. We are actively searching for a Director of Operations to oversee production across multiple facilities.

The Director of Operations role involves strategic leadership & hands-on management across 3 of their key manufacturing sites in Wisconsin (x2) & Illinois (x1) - 150+ employees total. You'll be responsible for driving operational excellence by developing and implementing key strategies to meet cost, quality, and performance goals.

The Director of Operations will lead Plant, EHS & Engineering Managers (direct) as well as Maintenance, Quality & Production teams (dotted-line).

Location:

Candidates MUST be based in the mid-western states (with ease of travel to all site locations) to be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assessing and improving production, maintenance, and engineering processes, utilizing strong problem solving skills to troubleshoot issues and identify improvements.
• Leading all capital improvement projects from planning to execution, ensuring they are on time and within budget.
• Recruiting, coaching, and empowering employees, fostering high engagement and ensuring ongoing training.
• Developing and managing budgets, controlling costs, and implementing savings initiatives.
• Working with Quality, R&D, and other teams to optimize products, processes, and inventory, while meeting production targets and customer demand.

Qualifications:

• Extensive operational and manufacturing leadership experience, ideally including 5+ years in a multi-plant management role.
• Deep knowledge of LEAN principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Demonstrated success in executing capital projects, including equipment installations and facility upgrades.
• Industry background in food, feed, or process manufacturing, with a strong preference for both wet and dry dairy processing environments.
• Understanding of mechanical systems, production workflows, and regulatory compliance standards.
• Problem solving aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and optimize equipment and operational processes.
• Practical knowledge of project management principles related to engineering and capital project execution.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex challenges, recognize trends, and support strategic decision-making in production settings.
• Proficient with standard business software and systems, including Microsoft Office and ERP platforms.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
• Skilled in conflict resolution and team leadership, fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
