The Project Engineer II applies basic knowledge and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks which include planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Importing and setting up project framing and foundation plans.
  • Running beam calculations.
  • Investigating complicated framing designs.
  • Utilizing the building code to establish design approach.
  • Performs standard engineering work requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Performs specific and limited segments of an experienced engineer’s broader assignment.
  • Assists on other tasks such as: Preparation of permit applications, material testing, drawings, and CAD work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ABET accredited program)
  • 2+ years minimum experience, or 1+ years with MS Degree

Required Skills

  • Some level of exercise of judgment required when less common methods or procedures are necessary.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various services.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Exercises limited judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work.

Language Skills

  • Read and interpret technical and business documents.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of members or employees of the organization.

Direction Received

  • Receives close supervision on unusual or difficult problems, and general review of all aspects of work.
  • Supervisor screens assignments for unusual complexities and selects non-routine techniques and procedures to be applied. Receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments.
  • Works under general supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to:

  • stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear, continually.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
