Job Description
This position is part of the AWS Specialist and Partner Organization (ASP). Specialists own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for their respective technology domains, providing the business and technical expertise to help our customers succeed. Partner teams own the strategy, recruiting, development, and growth of our key technology and consulting partners. Together they provide our customers with the expertise and scale needed to build innovative solutions for their most complex challenges.
Are you an expert in relational and non-relational database technologies with hands-on experience in architecting and building solutions? Do you enjoy solving complex, large-scale database challenges? Do you have deep expertise in designing, developing, implementing, and running mission-critical systems for workloads including high-performance transaction processing, real-time analytics, data warehousing, or other data-driven applications at internet scale? Are you interested in influencing the development and use of new technologies and frameworks? Do you want to help customers leverage Cloud computing technologies to gain insights and build solutions faster and more cost-effectively?
As a Principal Solutions Architect, your responsibilities will include:
- Promoting technical readiness and capability of database services by driving organizational initiatives across multiple geographies to develop and share best practices.
- Collaborating with customers, partners, and AWS engineering teams to solve enterprise problems like database migrations and build design patterns for cloud-native, serverless, mobile backends, and microservices applications on AWS.
- Architecting and designing solutions for customers modernizing their data-driven applications and driving the evolution of AWS services around capabilities like event logging, streaming, graph, location-aware, and messaging.
- Leading technical discussions on designing highly available, distributed, resilient, and globally scalable applications and data products using NoSQL technologies.
- Guiding customers on workload optimization in AWS as a technical advisor.
This role requires deep expertise in one or more technology domains such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Elasticache, Cassandra, Timestream, and Neptune. The position has a worldwide scope and may involve travel up to 25%.
Key qualifications include:
- 10+ years in relevant technology domains (software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent
- Experience in developing technology solutions and guiding IT transformations toward cloud adoption
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences, including C-level executives
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of distributed systems, automation, database design, and experience with cloud migration and modernization.

The salary range for this position in the US varies from $164,500 to $284,300 annually, depending on location and experience. Additional benefits and compensation components may apply.
