As a SWE-3 , you won’t just write code—you’ll lead the development of complex software systems that span domains such as real-time analytics, large-scale data processing, and enterprise application frameworks. Whether you’re mentoring a development team, contributing to architectural decisions, or refining performance-critical code, your work will have a measurable, lasting impact.

Here’s What Your Day-to-Day Might Include

  • Analyzing user requirements and defining system architecture, design, and performance objectives

  • Designing, developing, testing, and deploying new software features and system enhancements

  • Debugging, maintaining, and optimizing legacy and modern codebases across multiple environments

  • Integrating third-party or legacy software with evolving platforms and architectures

  • Writing clean, efficient code in C, C++, Python, JavaScript, Perl , and other modern programming languages

  • Participating in Agile development cycles and using Git for source control

  • Creating technical documentation to capture design decisions, workflows, and test outcomes

  • Developing and managing relational and non-relational databases

  • Implementing messaging and orchestration frameworks such as Spring and Kafka

  • Building and deploying cloud-native or containerized solutions (e.g., Docker)

  • Contributing to DevSecOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins )

  • Automating tasks and system configurations through Unix/Linux shell scripting

  • Providing leadership or mentorship within software teams, ensuring code quality and consistency

Minimum Qualifications

  • Clearance: TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Education & Experience:

    • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field + 5 years of SWE experience

    • OR Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field + 7 years of experience

    • OR 9+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs of similar scope and complexity

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages: C, C++, Python, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby

  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and scalable data systems

  • Familiarity with development tools such as Eclipse , IntelliJ , or Visual Studio Code

  • Understanding of event-driven , data-driven , and cloud-native architecture models

  • Hands-on experience with Kafka and other messaging frameworks

  • Strong background in Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines , containerization, and DevSecOps workflows

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, version control using Git , and collaboration tools like JIRA and Confluence

  • Ability to develop, document, and optimize complex algorithms

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience leading software development teams or mentoring junior engineers

  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure and modern DevOps practices

  • Previous work integrating Open Source , COTS , or GOTS components

  • Exposure to scientific computing , algorithm development, or high-performance systems

  • Skilled in code reviews , algorithm optimization , and maintaining robust test suites


Compensation Range: $215,000.00 - $237,000.00
*The salary range provided reflects an estimate based on current market trends and may be adjusted based on factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The final offer will be tailored after a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s background and suitability for the role. Please note that this range is intended as a guideline and is subject to flexibility.
