Job Summary
The adult Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider Supervisor supervises, coordinates, and administers the practice of advanced practice professionals (APP), including nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Ensures quality of care and serves as a role model, expert clinician, and mentor. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.
The primary responsibilities include providing leadership to adult critical care APPs, supporting the Critical Care APP Manager, and delivering expert clinical services in adult intensive care units at UCSF Health. The role encompasses administrative, staff development, education, and leadership duties, with full responsibility for adult Critical Care APP clinical services in the absence of the manager.
UCSF Health requires all APPs to be credentialed through OMAG and privileged through CIDP before starting. Credentialing and privileges must be completed prior to the first day of work. Non-compliance may result in leave or suspension of privileges.
The salary range for this position is $138,400 - $335,800 annually. Placement within this range depends on experience and internal equity.
Department Description
The UCSF Critical Care APP team provides expert care in adult ICUs, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and supporting educational and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- 4-6 years recent experience as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in adult critical care.
- Knowledge of educational, legislative, and regulatory issues affecting APPs.
- Ability to independently gather clinical information, develop diagnoses, and lead patient management.
- Proven supervisory and workflow management skills.
- Strong knowledge of clinical operations, quality standards, and staff development.
- Human resources management skills for staff training, evaluation, and decision-making.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare management or senior APP roles in complex organizations.
- Knowledge of clinical and administrative software systems.
- Doctorate Degree.
License/Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Graduate degree as a physician assistant or adult-geriatric nurse practitioner.
- California RN license (NP applicants).
- NP or PA license/certification in California.
- National Provider ID (NPI).
- California furnishing license as required.
- DEA license, BLS, ACLS, ENLS certification.
- Certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
