Job Description
Visa's Technology Organization is a collaborative community of problem solvers and innovators dedicated to reshaping the future of commerce. We operate the world's most sophisticated processing networks capable of handling more than 65k secure transactions a second across 80M merchants, 15k Financial Institutions, and billions of individuals.
CMS (Commercial and Money Movement Solutions) represents a key strategic growth area for Visa, as we seek to digitize commercial payments and money movement flows, supporting financial institutions, fintechs and fintech enablers, corporates and governments. CMS delivers value through:
- Commercial solutions: B2B credential solutions and supporting data, analytics and services for small businesses, mid-market, large corporates and governments
- Money movement: Send/receive funds domestically and cross-border to any card, account or wallet globally - with features relevant for your use case.
As a Chief Software Engineer for the VISA CMS team, you will provide technology leadership to build the next generation of B2B Payables and Visa Commercial Solutions Hub products. You will work on complex distributed systems and lead large-scale projects centered on new payment flows, collaborating with product and architecture partners. You will also drive technical expertise for strategic projects aligned with business strategy and contribute to GenAI innovation across the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Drive architecture for key cross-team and cross-product development projects, including architecture/design documentation and core module development.
- Establish software development patterns and best practices through examples and shipping code.
- Ensure project teams follow common principles, patterns, and utilize standard technology frameworks and libraries.
- Provide leadership across the engineering community to ensure solutions align with platform principles and standards.
- Mentor and build high-performing engineering teams.
- Apply architecture best practices to increase execution velocity.
- Contribute to GenAI initiatives for developer productivity and product innovation.
- Develop architectures that are secure, robust, scalable, modular, API-centric, and global.
- Influence technology selection for the enterprise.
- Define deployment topology in collaboration with peers across the technology organization.
- Optimize use of Visa's Platforms & Solutions.
- Demonstrate thought leadership through presentations and teaching across Visa.
- Contribute to Visa and CyberSource technology initiatives.
This is a hybrid position. Employees are expected to work from both remote and office locations, typically 2-3 days a week in the office, depending on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 12+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or at least 9 years with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or 6 years with a PhD, or 15+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 12 years with an Advanced Degree, or 9+ years with a PhD.
- Experience in Java, Spring, Hibernate, Angular, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, HTML5/CSS3.
- Expertise in web service standards (REST, gRPC).
- Advanced knowledge of AI / Generative AI / Data Science.
- Experience with Shared Services, Microservices, Container Technologies, API gateways, and Security.
- Understanding of integration patterns, continuous delivery, and DevOps practices.
- Payment domain experience is a plus.
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies based on department needs.
Travel Requirements: 5-10% of the time.
Physical/Mental Requirements: Office setting, involving sitting, standing, communication, and operation of standard office equipment.
