We are a dynamic investment management firm overseeing a diverse portfolio that includes hedge funds, investment partnerships, a private real estate investment trust (REIT), and a private equity fund. Our focus is on delivering superior risk-adjusted returns through a disciplined, research-driven approach. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead and manage all aspects of financial reporting, internal controls, fund accounting, and financial operations across our investment vehicles.

Position Summary:

The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of multiple investment entities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic financial insights. This role includes managing internal and external reporting, audit coordination, fund and corporate accounting, treasury functions, and supporting capital activity across the hedge fund, REIT, and private equity structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for hedge funds, REIT, private equity fund, and management entities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable GAAP (U.S. GAAP, IFRS, or tax basis), including investment company accounting and REIT-specific rules.
  • Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.

2. Fund Accounting & Operations

  • Supervise fund accountants and coordinate with third-party administrators.
  • Oversee capital activity, including subscriptions, redemptions, capital calls, and distributions.
  • Monitor fund expenses, management and performance fees, and fund allocations.
  • Ensure timely NAV calculations and investor reporting.

3. Treasury & Cash Management

  • Manage cash flows, banking relationships, and treasury functions across multiple entities.
  • Ensure adequate liquidity across all entities to meet operational and investment needs.

4. Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Establish and maintain robust financial controls, procedures, and policies.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements, including Form ADV, Form PF, REIT compliance tests, and other filings as needed.
  • Liaise with legal and compliance teams on structure, tax, and operational matters.

5. Strategic Finance & Business Support

  • Provide financial insights to support investment decisions and strategic planning.
  • Assist in modeling fund performance, forecasting, and financial scenario analysis.
  • Support capital raising efforts with performance data and investor materials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in investment management, public accounting (with a focus on funds), or related financial roles.
  • Deep understanding of investment fund structures, including hedge funds, REITs, and private equity.
  • Experience managing complex financial reporting processes and working with fund administrators.
  • Strong knowledge of partnership accounting, carried interest, and investor allocations.
  • Familiarity with fund administration software (e.g., Investran, eFront, QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) and Excel modeling.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in a multi-entity investment management firm or family office.
  • Experience with REIT compliance and structuring.
  • Exposure to investor relations or fundraising support functions.
