Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Engineering with a Software background to lead a global team of 80+ engineers in the aerospace electronics domain. This individual will be responsible for the full product development lifecycle—from concept and design to validation and sustainment—ensuring adherence to industry standards such as DO-178 DAL A and MIL-STD-882 . The role demands strong leadership, technical excellence, and proven experience managing large engineering teams and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for software development and sustainment programs.
• Build and foster a high-performing engineering team culture focused on quality, compliance, and innovation.
• Define and enforce software development standards and best practices aligned with aerospace safety requirements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including systems, product management, and quality.
• Oversee resource planning, budgeting, goal alignment, and capital investments.
• Represent the company at industry events and collaborate with external customers and partners.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field (required).
• 10+ years of experience in product development engineering with increasing leadership responsibility.
• Deep knowledge of DO-178 DAL A, MIL-STD-882, and aerospace development processes.
• Strong communication, financial management, and stakeholder alignment skills.

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with Design for Six Sigma and lean product development.
• Previous leadership experience in commercial or defense aerospace programs.
