Working independently, the VP of Software Engineering Manager oversees software engineering talent across multiple development teams. The individual will be well-versed in financial, trading, and advisory technologies. As a trusted technology partner, you will be working with cross-functional teams to ensure the development teams deliver quality that is well-defined and understood by the teams. The VP of Software Engineering Manager leads the development of cloud services and platform solutions needed to host business-critical applications that differentiate LPL in the market. This is a techno-functional, in some cases hands-on, technical lead role in the trading organization that will design, architect, and develop cloud-native and on-prem services to support LPL’s overall cloud strategy and migration to AWS. Responsibilities include leading research/design/architecture/development of enterprise services on ALZ, including EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway; building strong relationships with key stakeholders; coding/implementing guardrails to enable self-service and frictionless delivery; formulating workable solutions to complex challenges; measuring success by say/do, velocity, defect remediation, and clear value to the trading platforms; providing technical leadership through design and implementation of best practices; influencing cross-functional teams to adopt best practices; being a servant leader fostering inclusivity and diversity; maintaining, troubleshooting, optimizing, and enhancing Trading Platform applications; ensuring service level agreements and contingency activities related to system or application availability are covered. Requirements include 5+ years in technology leadership roles, 3+ years designing/deploying infrastructure using AWS services, 5+ years designing and delivering Pub Sub like EMS & MQ, Streaming like Kafka, programming languages like C#, Java, or Python, and database technologies like PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and NoSQL. Experience in event-driven, high availability, and low latency platform building with trading platforms and capital markets knowledge is required. Core competencies include strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate business opportunities and results.
