Vice President, Procurement (Data Centers)

Responsibilities
  • Lead the competitive procurement process for mission-critical data center projects, including market engagement, vendor shortlisting, bid package development, and evaluation of trade packages related to MEP systems, electrical infrastructure, cooling systems, and other key components. Develop bidder response evaluation packages with recommendations for project team review.
  • Collaborate with development, design, and construction teams to create and oversee bid package procurement schedules aligned with fast-track project timelines. Assist in defining scope of work for all data center-specific trades, with emphasis on long-lead equipment.
  • Assemble bid packages including trade-specific scopes, technical documentation, project schedules, and performance specifications. Establish project bidder lists, define bidding procedures, and manage subcontractor prequalification for highly specialized trades.
  • Review contract documents, design drawings, and technical specifications with a focus on ensuring procurement scopes are aligned with redundancy, capacity, and uptime standards required for data centers. Provide clarification and additional detail to bidders as needed.
  • Drive contractor bidding process, including bid receipt, development of leveling sheets, and leading scope review meetings to ensure compliance with technical, scheduling, and financial requirements. Evaluate vendor readiness for large-scale data center work, including capacity to meet aggressive lead times and commissioning schedules.
  • Coordinate with cost management to update project cost reports and procurement logs, tracking awards, budget changes, long-lead item commitments, and unbought scope, with visibility into total project risk.
  • Support the project team in resolving issues related to scope disputes, change orders, and vendor non-performance.
  • Monitor supply chain trends in mission-critical components (electrical gear, cooling equipment, generators, etc.) and maintain market intelligence on material and labor costs.
  • Support contract close-out process and ensure final cost data is accurately captured for future benchmarking on data center procurement strategies.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in real estate development or construction management, with at least 5 years focused on data center or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience performing contract administration duties in the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field. A master’s degree in Construction Management or related discipline is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of the technical and logistical requirements associated with large-scale data centers, including power infrastructure, HVAC systems, and commissioning workflows.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex contract documents, technical drawings, specifications, and procurement schedules.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage vendors, internal teams, and third-party consultants across multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the flexibility to adapt in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.

Anticipated base salary range: $250,000 - $300,000+

Actual base salary within the anticipated range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and market factors.
