Job Description
Blumhouse is seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial, and well-connected VP of Business Development to join the Games division and help chart the path for our long-term growth. This individual will lead efforts to identify, structure, and secure business opportunities across publishing partnerships, platform relationships, licensing, and revenue expansion.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience negotiating and closing complex deals in the video game industry, has a deep understanding of developer needs, and thrives in fast-moving creative environments. In this role, you’ll work closely with the President of Games and collaborate cross-functionally with legal, finance, and production teams to advance new partnerships and strengthen existing ones. You’ll also help guide strategy for IP licensing and explore new business models and revenue streams that align with the Blumhouse brand. This role reports directly to the President of Games.
Responsibilities
  • Identify and drive new business opportunities including publishing partnerships, platform deals, licensing agreements, and new revenue models
  • Lead negotiation and deal structuring with external partners, developers, licensors, and platforms
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with first-party platforms, IP holders, and strategic collaborators
  • Evaluate inbound opportunities and proactively source aligned partnerships across indie development, genre IP, and complementary entertainment
  • Collaborate with legal and finance on deal terms, contract review, and approval processes
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning and growth road mapping
  • Represent Blumhouse Games at key industry events and business forums
  • Support developer partners in exploring external funding, incentives, and co-production opportunities
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure seamless onboarding and long-term success of partners
Requirements
  • 8–10+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or licensing within the video game or interactive entertainment industry
  • Proven ability to structure and close a wide range of deal types (publishing, platform, licensing, co-financing)
  • Strong industry network, with a track record of trusted relationships
  • Deep understanding of game development pipelines and the indie dev ecosystem
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Collaborative mindset and experience working across disciplines
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, low-ego approach
