Posting Note : Phoenix Children's is seeking a talented, energetic, innovative, and collegial Pediatric Physiatrist / Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine physician to lead the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) within Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children's.

The Pediatric Division Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is a leadership position responsible for overseeing clinical, educational, and research activities within the division. This role involves providing comprehensive medical care to pediatric patients with neuromuscular, congenital conditions, and trauma, while leading a team and collaborating with other departments to ensure high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Clinical Leadership :

Provide expert care to pediatric patients with disabilities, neuromuscular and congenital conditions, and injuries. Develop tailored treatment plans involving medical interventions and therapies. Collaborate with specialists to ensure a multidisciplinary approach.

2. Administrative and Leadership :

Lead the division, oversee operations, resources, growth, and quality initiatives. Recruit, mentor staff, and manage the division’s budget.

3. Education and Training :

Develop and implement training programs for trainees and foster continuous learning.

4. Research and Innovation :

Engage in clinical research, contribute to publications, and collaborate on projects to improve outcomes and therapies.

5. Collaboration and Networking :

Work with other departments, institutions, and community organizations to enhance care and outreach. Build partnerships.

6. Quality Improvement and Patient Safety :

Establish quality metrics, implement evidence-based practices, and monitor safety and patient-centered care.

Qualifications :

MD or DO with board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, preferably with Pediatric PM&R subspecialization. Eligible for medical licensure. Proven expertise in Pediatric PM&R, leadership experience, and strong communication skills. Commitment to education and research.

Phoenix Children's has a CARF-accredited inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, the only pediatric rehab unit in Arizona. The physicians work collaboratively with neurology and other specialties. The position involves coverage of inpatient and outpatient services, with opportunities for program development and clinical research.

Phoenix Children's is a leading non-profit pediatric center with extensive facilities, including trauma, neuroscience, orthopedics, and NICU. Our academic partners include the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, Mayo Clinic, and Creighton University. We have a large residency program and participate in multiple fellowships.

The Division Chief will lead clinical, research, and academic programs, ensuring financial oversight and supporting the hospital’s mission to provide hope, healing, and the best healthcare for children and their families.

Position Duties

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient patient care, including consultations, procedures, and urgent care.
  • Strive for family-centered care and support hospital satisfaction and safety goals.
  • Lead the division’s clinical and administrative activities, including budget, staffing, and community needs assessment.
  • Support and develop educational and research initiatives, supervise trainees, and promote professional development.
  • Support division growth through recruitment and program expansion.
  • Maintain professionalism, promote a respectful environment, and align with PCH values and mission.
  • Act as liaison to the community and represent PCH professionally.

Essential skills include effective communication, after-hours availability, and regular work hours.
