Wage Range: $360,006 - $540,009 per year

Prorated Wage Range: $288,004 - $432,007 per year (based on .8 FTE)

Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.

Job Summary/Scope

The Chief Medical/Quality Officer (CMQO) is a member of the EvergreenHealth Monroe executive leadership team. The CMQO is responsible for providing leadership and direction of the medical staff and providers practicing within SCPHD#1 District in partnership with system senior leadership/EHMG and under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for EvergreenHealth Monroe (EHM). The CMQO has a matrixed reporting relationship to the system Chief Medical/Quality Officer.

  • Provides leadership and expertise for hospital quality and clinical effectiveness. The Chief Medical/Quality Officer-EHM will evaluate and provide input on the process of disease management, patient satisfaction, patient safety, and develop processes to ensure appropriateness of care.
  • CMQO has oversight responsibility for the hospital’s medical and quality programs. The CMQO provides leadership for patient safety and quality related initiatives in coordination with key stakeholders.
  • Partners and collaborates with the CMQO-EHK, CNO-EHM, EHM medical staff, Leadership Team, and the Alliance Governance Board in facilitating teamwork and achieving shared goals. Help represent EHM Medical Staff viewpoints to administration and relay administrative views to EHM Medical Staff.
  • Integrates evidence-based medicine practices wherever possible, building this into new and existing patient care delivery systems.
  • Provides ongoing counsel and advice to the President of the Medical Staff-EHM on physician matters. The primary responsibility and authority for dealing with EHM Medical Staff matters and concerns will rest with the President of the Medical Staff-EHM.
  • Facilitates, intervenes and moderates, when requested, physician-physician, physician-patient, and physician-staff concerns in collaboration with the President of the Medical Staff-EHM and other appropriate EHM Medical Staff and executive team members.
  • Work closely with the CAO, CNO-EHM, VP of Finance-EHM, Directors and Managers to develop new initiatives to improve clinical quality.
  • Promotes shared accountability, high achievement and compliance with applicable laws and regulations within the EHM Medial Staff. Participates in regulatory/accreditation and Department of Health surveys, as required.
  • Responsible for physician engagement strategies including supporting community physicians, physician recruitment, interviewing and promoting programs which enhance physician satisfaction and retention at EHM. As appropriate, works in partnership with the CMO of the EvergreenHealth Medical Group.
  • Supports the EHM Medical Staff in its self-governance and accountability to the Alliance Governance Board for quality and safety of patient care. Ensure EHM Medical Staff compliance with bylaws, rules and regulations, as well as policies and procedures, and behavioral standards.
  • In conjunction with the system Infection Control Medical Director provides support to the organization’s infection control program. Assists in reviewing physician contracts, compensation, and stipends for physicians with duties in medical directorship or employment.
  • Regularly attends all relevant EHM Medical Staff meetings, administrative council meetings, and Alliance Governance Board meetings where appropriate.
  • Has administrative oversight to support system leaders in Pharmacy and Medical staff Office day-to-day operations.
  • Collaborates with the CMQO-EHK in issues related to Risk Management and in coordination with the Director of Risk Management.
  • As delegated by the Alliance Governance Board and the CAO, works with the President of the Medical Staff to ensure adequate call coverage for the organization.
  • Supports physician leadership development by providing effective growth and training opportunities.

Education - REQUIRED for the position:

  • M.D. or D.O. with Board Certification in his/her respective specialty.
  • Unrestricted licensed to practice medicine in the State of Washington.
  • Maintains all customary narcotics and controlled substances numbers and licenses.

Experience/Training - REQUIRED for the position:

  • 5 years of experience as a practicing physician.
  • 2 years of medical administrative experience.
  • Maintains membership in good standing on the EvergreenHealth or EvergreenHealth Monroe Medical Staff and shall maintain EvergreenHealth or EvergreenHealth Monroe hospital privileges in accordance with the respective hospital Medical Staff bylaws.
  • Is approved and maintains professional liability insurance coverage as required by the medical staff bylaws.
