What to Expect

The Chassis Systems team is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer for actuator control development. As an embedded developer on the team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality software that controls various actuators on the vehicle, influencing longitudinal, vertical, and lateral vehicle dynamics. You will be challenged to write efficient, safe, and robust code that works seamlessly across multiple vehicle platforms and follows first principles. Your role will include integrating sensors and motor controls and implementing safety mechanisms on embedded targets. Additionally, you will drive design decisions regarding vehicle electrical architecture, microcontroller selection, software architecture, and PCB design. Join an industry-leading software team dedicated to building the safest and most performant vehicle control systems.

What You'll Do

  • Develop high-quality, safety-critical software for RTOS, sensor, and motor actuation drivers.
  • Perform hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, and code optimization.
  • Conduct bench and PCB-in-the-loop testing for software verification.
  • Make performance and optimization trade-offs to meet product requirements.
  • Design abstractions to enable code reuse across different vehicle platforms.
  • Specify performance requirements for sensors, actuators, and computation.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience with demonstrated exceptional ability.
  • Proficiency in C programming.
  • Familiarity with MISRA C and Python is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with microcontroller peripherals such as ADCs, CAN, GPIOs, PWM, and SPI.
  • Experience with electrical schematics and circuit behavior understanding.
  • Experience working with sensors and digital signal processing.
  • Experience with RTOS.
  • Knowledge of PID controllers and control loops is a plus.
  • Knowledge of build systems (SCons, Bazel, Buck) is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Benefits include multiple medical plans with $0 payroll deduction, family-building and fertility benefits, dental and vision coverage, HSA contributions, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) with employer match, stock purchase plans, insurance coverage, employee assistance programs, paid time off, childcare resources, voluntary benefits, wellness programs, Tesla Babies program, commuter benefits, employee discounts, and perks.
