Job Summary
A post-doctoral fellow position is available for research in molecular virology at the University of Utah - School of Medicine. The NCI/NIH-funded projects focus on the host-pathogen relationship between oncogenic herpesviruses and host cells. Key research areas include host restriction of virus reactivation, EBV and KSHV RNA-binding proteins involved in gene regulation, virus chromatin interactions, and drug discovery targeting EBV and KSHV proteins.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will contribute to planning experiments, writing manuscripts and grant applications, and conducting bench research. Responsibilities include manuscript preparation, presentations at group meetings, assisting with reports and grants, and collaborating with scientists and clinicians in the field.
Minimum Qualifications & Preferences
- Skills and recent experience with cloning, cell culture, sequence analysis, and RT-PCR.
- Hands-on experience with deep sequencing, protein expression, immunoassays (ELISA and Western Blot), herpesvirology, and large dataset analysis is highly desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
