JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.
JOB SUMMARY
The Operations Manager will be responsible for all operational services, import and export traffics in air and ocean trade. This position will ensure operational excellence, for JAS East Region 4PL and Lead Logistics services, and support product initiatives.
Overall objecitive is to support JAS branch operational excellence, product initiatives, while driving operational, financial, and compliance objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible of statistics and KPI's of operational performance in the country/branch.
  • Handling freight audit, payments, and invoicing ensuring no business disruptions while controlling freight costs.
  • Complete visibility to booking forecast, from PO issued to booking requested, booking confirmed, and booking distributed to key client stakeholders.
  • Ensuring metrics/ KPIs, and exception reporting covering client, carrier, and JAS performance are met.
  • Responsible for the relationship with International Air Transport Association-(IATA) at National Level and fulfill with the operational requirements of IATA.
  • Detailed tracking and tracing processes providing visibility to cargo in-transit to ultimate consignee.
  • Awareness of key import and export lanes and operations processes/requirements.
  • Work closely with operations, sales, warehousing, and sales support teams to achieve the target budget.
  • Adhere to the compliance rules and policies for local, federal and JAS.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with customers and carriers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct performance evaluation for direct reports, and customer services department.
  • Manage branch workflow initiative adherence using PowerBI dashboard to enhance staff productivity.
  • Identify and relay personnel issues to Branch Manager.
  • Ongoing coaching and mentoring of staff to develop skills to the highest level
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Proficient written and verbal skills
  • Adept in computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or transportation, ocean freight or international business equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of freight forwarding operations experience, handling air/ocean product, warehousing, and customs brokerage.
  • 5+ years of prior supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Experience in air freight operations duties. and cost control in air freight product..
  • English and Portuguese advanced proficiency language (written and speaking preferred).
  • CargoWise (C1) experience is a plus
