Groups may include health and wellness topics, sensory modalities, stress management, independent living skills, ADLs, and other psychoeducational material. The OT also provides individual evaluation reports and consultation to the unit treatment teams related to discharge planning and development of aftercare plans by assessing needs for outpatient supports, equipment, or other resources.REPORTS TO:Rehabilitation Services ManagerESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:To provide individual Occupational Therapy evaluations for patients as neededTo provide recommendations for treatment team members on inpatient units regarding potential needs for specialized rehab servicesDevelops and conducts groups on all unitsDocuments pertinent clinical data following groups and consultsAssists as necessary for projects, reports, and other duties as assigned by managerParticipates in maintaining inventory of supplies#INDBH2QualificationsQUALIFICATONS AND EXPERIENCE:Must be a graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.Must have certification and licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.Must have experience with psychiatric inpatient treatment, mental health/substance use and adult and adolescent populations, sensory modulation, and independent living skills evaluation.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:Effective group facilitation skillsKnowledge of psychiatric disorders and their effects on functional capacityKnowledge of therapeutic use of multimedia, including sensory modulation and integration, to support stabilization and rehabilitationUnderstanding of age, socioeconomic, and cultural factors affecting patients' interest and ability to participate in rehabilitation programsAbility to effectively redirect patients and set clear, timely limits on inappropriate behaviorKnowledge of trauma informed careKnowledge of DMH/JCAHO/CMS regulations and standards and Human RightsBournewood is a drug-free workplace.
