Job Summary:
The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs to support the manufacturing of precision components. This individual will interpret technical drawings, select appropriate tooling, and develop efficient machining strategies to meet production and quality requirements. The ideal candidate has strong experience with G-code, CAM software, and hands-on machining knowledge to ensure high-quality and cost-effective results.
Key Responsibilities:
Program CNC machines (mills, lathes, multi-axis, etc.) using G-code and/or CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or SolidCAM.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T to define machining strategies.
Select tools, fixtures, and cutting parameters to ensure optimal cycle times and part quality.
Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality teams to troubleshoot and improve machining processes.
Conduct test runs and adjust programs as necessary to meet tight tolerances and specifications.
Maintain organized documentation of programs, setup sheets, and change histories.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards throughout the machining process.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience as a CNC Programmer in a production or job shop environment.
Proficiency in G-code and common CAM platforms (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Fusion 360).
Strong understanding of machining operations, materials, and cutting tools.
Ability to work from engineering drawings and solid models.
Solid knowledge of GD&T, feeds/speeds, and tooling best practices.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision and accuracy.
Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with CNC equipment from manufacturers such as Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or Fanuc-controlled machines.
Background in prototype machining or small-batch custom parts.
Experience with multi-axis and Swiss-style lathes is a plus.
